3. The equipment

For pleasant travel with safety, comfort & good music. :-)

Highlight 1 – The Camper Kit

The camper kit contains everything you need for living and traveling in a car. This means you don’t have to search for equipment for a long time after buying it, but can start your adventure straight away. Practical!

Highlight 2 – The Bed Conversion

All cars offer enough comfortable sleeping space for 2 people, which can also be converted into a seat in the larger models. This means you can spend the night comfortably in the car and save on accommodation costs.

4. The Extras

The most comprehensive offer for backpackers in New Zealand.

Extra 1 – The Buyback Guarantee

At the end of your journey, you have the option of selling the car back to the garage. That way, you won’t be stuck with it in the worst-case scenario. Because that would be a really sad end to your adventure.

Extra 2 – The Breakdown Warranty

Each of our partner workshops offers a so-called Breakdown Warranty. In the event that something was overlooked during the mechanical & safety check of the camper, you are covered in any case. Sexy!

Extra 3 – The Self-Contained Seal

The self-contained seal quickly pays off, especially on longer trips, as it allows you to camp in the wild and not always have to pay for a pitch. Read more in the article.

Extra 4 – The Mechanical & Background Check

All partner workshops carry out a technical check of the vehicle before selling a camper. A background check is also carried out on the previous owner and any outstanding parking tickets etc.. This way you can be sure that the camper will be handed over safely, both technically and legally.

Customer Reviews

You are not alone in New Zealand:

“It's great what you've put together. Thanks to everyone involved. But especially to Marco, who gave me such good advice on insurance on site. 👍”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you that everything worked out at such short notice! We are very happy!!!”
“We are glad that we found you. Thanks to Nils for [...] the super-fast answers :))”

5. The Locations in Auckland and Christchurch

We work with several certified partner workshops in Auckland and Christchurch. This has the advantage that you can use the buyback guarantee at both locations. We can also coordinate the workloads of the individual workshops so that the local mechanics do not have to work under time pressure.

Partner workshops in Chirstchurch

Good to know: Every year, we check the quality, capacity utilization and processes of all partner workshops. Among other things, we use our own review system (similar to the one you may know from Airbnb).

6. The Procedure

Here is a brief overview of how a request works. Important to know: You are never obliged to make a purchase and can cancel your request at any time.

Step 1: You fill out a request

Once you have completed your request, we will take a look at it first. We will answer your questions and check that everything is complete. We will also check whether one of our partner workshops in New Zealand has the capacity to prepare your desired model.

Step 2: Your place is secured

If everything fits, we will block a space for you straight away. So you can rest assured that a car will be prepared for you in New Zealand. Important: Nevertheless, the request remains non-binding up to this point. You can cancel at any time.

Step 3: You make the down payment

As soon as we have confirmation from at least one of our partner garages, we will contact you regarding the deposit. The local mechanics will then start searching for the car, carrying out repairs and all safety checks (but no earlier than 4 weeks before your arrival). You don’t have to do anything else and save yourself all the stress of searching for a car on site.

Lake Wanaka Otago New Zealand

Mount Cook New Zealand

Step 4: You pick up the camper

Well, and then you fly to New Zealand. Your car will be ready for you on your desired pick-up date. You can then take your time to look at it and buy it (or not). The local mechanics will help you with all the necessary steps.

Then it’s off on your adventure.
Have fun!

7. The Deposit (415,- €)

So that it is fair and safe for everyone involved. Because each car requires around 20 hours of preparation (removal, customer service, maintenance, repair, etc.) to ensure that it is in perfect, safe condition.

8. Buy or Rent a camper in New Zealand?

In principle, it is always worth buying a campervan in New Zealand for trips lasting approx. 1.5 months or longer. Especially in the high season, rental prices are extremely high in comparison. Many people simply don't realize that buying a campervan with a buyback guarantee is ultimately up to 50% cheaper.

Buy your own Campervan in New Zealand

The advantages of buying a camper

✅ You can keep the camper for as long as you like.
✅ You can equip and decorate your camper individually.
✅ When reselling in the high season: possible price increase
✅ With the buyback guarantee, you don’t have to worry about the resale.

Price comparison for Campervan hire

We spent several months obtaining prices from all the major platforms and providers in New Zealand in order to make a comprehensive price comparison. The result is amazing!

Price comparison 1: Medium-sized Camper

presale-models-Medium Camper Plus

Period: 3 months stay (November – January)
Travelers: 2 persons

Cheapest rental offer: approx. 9,250.00 euros ($NZ 16,500.00)
Comparison for purchase: approx. 6,100.00 euros ($NZ 10,945.00)

Note: The cheapest offer for rent would not even have the self-contained seal. So you would also have to pay for parking spaces every day. In addition, the buyback is not included in our comparison. With our buyback guarantee, you can expect a buyback of around 50% and, of course, you also have the option of selling the camper on your own and thus achieving a significantly better price.

Result: Buying a camper is ultimately around 75% cheaper than renting.

Reserve Model

Price comparison 2: Large camper

presale-models-Large Camper Plus

Period: 3 months stay (November – January)
Travelers: 3 persons

Cheapest rental offer: approx. 15,050.00 euros ($NZ 26,850.00)
Comparison when buying: approx. 8,945.00 euros ($NZ 15,945.00)

Note: Again, the buyback is not included in our purchase comparison. For the sake of fairness, however, we would like to briefly mention here that in this example the model for rent was slightly larger than the model for purchase.

Result: In the end, buying a camper is approx. 65% cheaper than renting.
